Transiting With Firearms In Amsterdam, Netherlands
When passing through the Netherlands while carrying rifles, weapons or ammunition, it is mandatory to file a consent application form with the Dutch Customs Department.

PLEASE NOTE: On their new consent form there is “VICE VERSA” fileld – If you check this filed you will get a permit for transitting both ways through Amsterdam.
- REQUIREMENTS:
- Your personal passport / ID
- A Fire arms license to show that you may carry the weapon(s) in your country
- The flight schedule
- The invitation of hunting or sport shooting from the land or company of destination
- Make this application well in advance of your travel and also allow plenty of time for the application to be processed.
- Add details for knives and broad heads to the application form when traveling through the Netherlands as they are considered contraband.
Qatar Regulations
QATAR REGULATIONS RE CARRIAGE OF HUNTING FIREARMS

The two documents below need to be completed and taken with to the check-in counter.
Qatar Airways does permit the carriage of sporting weapon/s and ammunition, but the details of your clients specific sporting weapon/s and ammunition have to be noted with his/her ticket.
If booked online via their website email pfcdoh@qatarairways.com.qa and give them the following paperwork as specified just below. If booked with a travel agent the details can be entered into the remarks section of the ticket and Qatar will revert with confirmation code in the ticket. The Customer Service desk in Doha can be reached on +974 4420 3015 if your clients have any issues or don’t receive a response.
When booking with your travel agent:
- The agent must add the Firearms and Ammo details in the remarks section in your reservation. Qatar will revert back with authorization.
When booking with Qatar direct, you need to send the following documents to them:
- Copy Of Passport
- SAPS520 or Proof of application
- 4457 US Customs and Border Patrol Form
- Outfitter’s Invitation Letter
- Photos of Firearms to be Checked
- Declaration of Surrender of Firearms (Filled out and signed off on at baggage check in)
PACKING OF FIREARMS & AMMO:
Ammo and the weapon must be separated and the weapon must be packed in hard-shell lockable container.
Please note:
- Arrive early to check your baggage with the firearms as the Declaration needs to be signed off by the proper Qatar Airlines employees prior to departure.
- When you have a layover in Doha you need to present the SAPS520 Application, 4457 form, outfitter invite letter and Qatar Declaration of Surrender at the Transfer Desk / Ticket Counter for the second flight to ensure that the firearms get on the next leg on both the outgoing and return trips.
