The Botswana government has made the decision to lift its ban on hunting. In an emailed statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism said that the country would ensure that the “reinstatement of hunting is done in an orderly and ethical manner”. According to the government, the growing conflict between humans and wildlife (notably human-elephant conflict) and the negative impact of the hunting suspension on people’s livelihoods is one of the findings that led to the decision.
